The number one budget food company, Lidl, recalled selected snack items because of the potential danger of it being contaminated by Salmonella that may jeopardize public health. Routine checking as well as customers reporting safety concerns about certain snacks prompted the product withdrawal to take place.
Salmonella, one of the food pathogens, is well known for causing different symptoms including fever, diarrhea and vomiting. Many normal healthy people recover without receiving any treatment but advanced stages may lead to hospitalization, especially in those at risk like elderly, young children or people with weak immune system.
The products recalled are mostly party delicacies which customers enjoy for their taste as well as for their ease of preparation. Because these foods are commonly served during parties and celebratory events, there’s extra concern from health specialists regarding this recall. The removed products were in fact sold at the stores, but Lidl has been collaborating with health authorities to remove them all from the stores.
In the official declaration, Lidl restated their commitment to consumer well-being and safety, inviting customers affected by the goods to return the items regardless of whether or not they had been previously opened for a full refund.
